The 66 km Highway 2000 North-South Link is expected to reduce travel time from Kingston to the North Coast town of Ocho Rios significantly. The construction will take place in 3 phases:

The Palisadoes road leads from the Norman Manley International Airport into Kingston. It has a history of repeated damage by hurricanes and tropical storms. The worst onslaught occurred during the passage of Hurricane Ivan in September 2004, and Dean in August 2007.
